Yukon Education is looking for teacher on calls for J.V. Clark School in Mayo for the 2024/2025 school year. To learn more about the school and community, please visit J.V Clark School.
At J.V. Clark School, our mission is to foster collaboration between the community and school to create a safe and nurturing environment. Our goal is to empower students to become confident, responsible, and productive lifelong learners, excelling socially, academically, and culturally in local and global settings.
We, the students and staff of J.V. Clark School, respectfully recognize and acknowledge that we live, work, learn and play within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun.
Our teacher on calls replace regular classroom teachers or education assistants on an as needed basis. They are responsible for delivering set lesson plans, maintaining the positive learning climate of the school, managing students and expectations in the classroom and broader learning environments, and collaborating with other educators as needed to ensure the success of the students in their class. Supervising students during recess/lunch breaks as well as participating in arrival and dismissal duties may also be part of the daily responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience:
- High School Diploma
- Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting
- Bachelor of Education (Elementary, Middle or Secondary) degree, or equivalent training would be an asset
- A valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or in progress would be an asset
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out general oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information
- Ability to determine, judge and select appropriate course of action within limits of established methods and procedures
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations students as well as a culturally diverse student population

Conditions of Employment:
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector, to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
